The RM 002-V1 was the serial production model of the RM 001 prototype. Its architecture featured a distinct aesthetic vocabulary with broad, curvaceous bezels framing an open case back crafted from transparent sapphire for clear visibility of the interior workings in three-dimensional relief. This model also marked the beginning of a new era with its revolutionary function selector, a first of its kind.
When the spec sheet for the RM 002-V1 was first revealed, even experienced industry insiders were at a loss in trying to make sense of its features. The watch incorporated remarkable technical elements such as ARCAP® center bridges with ribs for added rigidity, grade 5 titanium tourbillon bridge, variable-inertia balance mounted on ceramic pivots and shock absorbers, central involute profile, power reserve and torque indicators, plus the first function indicator ever made.
